Transition Ritual Retreats

Our quarterly overnight Retreat Days, aligned with the vernal and autumnal equinoxes and the solstices, celebrate the most spiritually transformative times of the year. Through specific rituals tailored to each natural cycle, we embrace change, honour life’s ebb and flow, and reverently acknowledge the expansion and contraction inherent in the natural world.

What is a Transition Ritual Retreat?

‘Transition’ is a process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another.

These quarterly overnight Retreat Days are in alignment with the vernal equinox which marks the start of spring, and the autumnal equinox which marks the start of fall. The Solstices mark the start of summer and winter & all four of these transitions are said to be the most potent and spiritually transformational times of the year.

For each Retreat we perform specific rituals for that particular time in the cycle to invite and welcome the change that is coming and to stay open through these transitions and natural cycles of life, understanding that the ebb and the flow the expansion and the contraction are all to be acknowledged revered & honoured.

Winter Solstice

A reminder that darkness is not a mistake, it’s part of the natural cycle of renewal and growth.

Winter solstice is a reminder that things will often go dark before light emerges, yoga is a constant reminder for us to align with the cycles and to graciously surrender to it all, to trust in all that is and all that will be.

We are approaching the turning point of the cycle of the year. We recognise the winter solstice as a deep silent night and from that pure stillness a light is born.

As light is once again re-birthed remember to see this as a symbol of the potentiality within you, within all of us, to find direction, meaning, purpose and joy in life particularly when things seem dark. Just as every life has winters when there appears to me more darkness than light, so too comes a time when the light creeps in and re-ignites that life. It’s just a matter of time.

Spring Equinox

According to the Hindu tradition this transition in the cycle is recognised as the triumph of good over evil,
when the sun graces us with increasingly longer periods of illumination and when we too begin to feel inspired to lighten up.

We can witness a reflection of our life in natures rhythms, the ground begins to awaken from its winter slumber and the germinating seeds begin to ascend to the surface for increased light & accelerated growth.

A time of fertility, rebirth and growth.

Summer Solstice

The sun is the ultimate source of light and warmth on the earths surface.

Summer Solstice is a time to welcome fire in to our lives to burn away the impediments that keep us from being in a state of Yoga.

Summer solstice is a time where we witness Mother Earth in full bloom from the summer sun and realise the reflection of that occurring on the inside and fully own our inner blooming that is our full potential of this years cycle, acknowledging all of the wisdom & persistent effort that has brought us to this place.

Autumn Equinox

A time where we FALL and contract into the great mysteries of that which lies beneath the light.

A calling to begin the descent into our being & dare to bare all that cannot be explained within us and the courage to navigate that, to express our vulnerabilities and our shadow selves cultivating a life that doesn’t push down or swallow up the uncomfortable but instead finds a steady and easeful seat throughout this transition.

Autumn Equinox is the time when night conquers day. Harvest is a time to gather all that has birthed from us, that has grown and flourished, (we reap what we sow), then prepare for the decent into the dark well of intentions in preparation for our next cycle of growth & expansion.
